Each year, the flu leads to approximately 36,000 deaths and 200,000 hospitalizations. The best way to prevent the flu is to be vaccinated. Get your child a flu shot!
The time of year is once again upon us to start thinking about protecting ourselves from influenza. We are very pleased to announce that Sanford Luverne Clinic, District 2184, and the Luverne Area Community Foundation will once again be offering flu vaccines to all children enrolled in grades K-12 in the District 2184 school system.
We will bill your insurance for the flu vaccine if you have coverage. However, through collaboration with the Luverne Area Community Foundation, all out-of-pocket and non-insured costs will be covered for these school aged children.
The in-school flu shot clinic will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016.
This year, live influenza vaccine (FluMist) will NOT be offered in the United States. We will be offering only the injectable form of vaccine to our patients. To receive the flu shot, the attached consent form must be completed and returned to the school. Please return completed forms as soon as possible and no later than October 21, 2016.
